Meredith McQuaigue

Instructor

Meredith McQuaigue, originally from Trinity, North Carolina, began her dance and acrobatics training at the young age of two at Bobbi’s School of Dance and Central Carolina Gymnastics. Over the years, she has trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, contemporary, and acrobatics.

By the age of four, Meredith began competing and has since earned numerous regional and national titles through solo, duet, and group performances. At just 12 years old, she began assisting in dance classes, where she quickly discovered her passion for teaching and choreography. Her love for working with children and creating meaningful routines has continued to fuel her journey as both an educator and performer.

Meredith is a proud graduate of Wheatmore High School and holds a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is currently in her fourth year as a fourth-grade teacher at Hopewell Elementary School.

Meredith is thrilled to continue sharing her passion for dance and mentoring young performers as a valued member of the JM Studios faculty.

Lexie Skeen

Instructor

Lexie, a dedicated educator and passionate dancer from Asheboro, North Carolina, brings both energy and experience to the studio. A 2023 graduate of Randolph Early College High School, she went on to earn her Early Childhood Education credentials that fall. She currently serves as the Lead Preschool Teacher at Creative Kids Preschool in Asheboro, where she nurtures young minds with care and creativity.

Lexie began dancing at the age of four and discovered her love for clogging at five. She quickly found success on the competitive stage, and after a few years, chose to focus exclusively on clogging. In 2017, she joined JM — her fifth studio and the one she proudly calls home.

Throughout her clogging career, Lexie has competed in numerous team divisions, duos, and solo routines, earning multiple Grand Champion titles. She is a member of JM’s 2023 National Champion Team and holds the distinct honors of being inducted into America’s Junior Hall of Fame in 2021 and the All-American Clogging Team in 2023.

Lexie’s role at the studio allows her to combine her two greatest passions: teaching and clogging. When she’s not at the studio or preschool, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. Lexie is excited to welcome new and returning dancers and looks forward to an incredible season ahead.

Alyssa Swofford

Instructor

Alyssa began her dance journey at the age of six and continued training and competing through her high school graduation. Throughout her years as a dancer, she trained in a variety of styles including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, and pointe. She also had the opportunity to attend multiple dance conventions, learning from some of the industry’s top choreographers, including performers from So You Think You Can Dance. During her senior year, she was invited to perform at Disney, marking a memorable highlight in her dance career.

Alyssa discovered her passion for teaching while assisting with younger classes at her home studio during high school. After graduating, she continued working with children through her role at a daycare and further developed her experience teaching dance to young students.

Although she took a brief step back from dancing, her passion for the art never faded. Alyssa is excited to continue growing as both a dancer and instructor at JM Studios while creating a positive, welcoming, and hardworking environment for her students. She is dedicated to helping dancers build confidence, technique, and a genuine love for dance.

Outside of the studio, Alyssa enjoys spending time with family and friends. In her free time, she can often be found fishing, watching movies, or relaxing with her animals
